DPYD
DPYD makes DPD, an enzyme that breaks down fluorouracil and capecitabine. Certain decreased- or no-function variants raise the risk of severe toxicity. A finite panel detects only some inherited risk, so a negative result does not prove full enzyme activity, clear a standard dose, or replace oncology confirmation and monitoring.
