In Evans 2013, each C copy was linked to 0.287 standard deviations lower transformed erythrocyte zinc, and Ng 2015 repeated the direction in whole blood. A newer European study repeated the same locus with a nearby high-LD marker. The studies do not show a person's zinc level, zinc deficiency, or response to supplements. PPCDC is a locus label; the causal gene is not established. Calls containing the unstudied A or G allele are outside the reviewed map.
