rs10046

rs10046 is a C>T variant in the 3' untranslated region of CYP19A1, the gene encoding aromatase, the enzyme that converts androgens into estrogens. The T allele is associated with higher CYP19A1 transcript levels and higher circulating estrone and estradiol (and shifted estrogen-to-androgen ratios) in population studies, consistent with its use here as a tag for aromatase/estrogen-pathway activity.
