TCN2

TCN2 encodes transcobalamin II, the plasma transport protein that binds dietary vitamin B12 (cobalamin) after intestinal absorption and delivers it into cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis, making it the main determinant of B12 delivery to tissues. The common variant rs1801198 (Pro259Arg) affects transcobalamin binding affinity and is associated with circulating vitamin B12 and holotranscobalamin status.
