DIO1

DIO1 makes type 1 deiodinase, an enzyme involved in thyroid-hormone processing. The rs2235544 studies measured small differences in adult circulating free T3, free T4, and their ratio; they did not measure the enzyme's catalytic efficiency in a person. This marker cannot show thyroid health, symptoms, disease, medication response, or a person's current hormone levels.
