ARNTL
ARNTL (also known as BMAL1) encodes a core circadian-clock transcription factor that heterodimerizes with CLOCK to drive rhythmic, genome-wide expression of clock-controlled genes. Because this circadian machinery also times skin and metabolic responses to daylight, ARNTL variation is used as genetic context for how the body's vitamin D response interacts with sun exposure and season.
