ADARB2
ADARB2 (also called ADAR3) encodes a brain-restricted member of the double-stranded RNA adenosine deaminase (ADAR) family. Unlike its catalytically active relatives ADAR1 and ADAR2, ADAR3 has no RNA-editing activity of its own; instead it binds double-stranded RNA and acts as a regulator/inhibitor of adenosine-to-inosine editing performed by the other ADAR enzymes. A common intronic variant, rs7904615, was identified in a large genome-wide association study of Danish blood donors as significantly associated with complete lifelong freedom from headache, notably without association to migraine, cluster headache, or tension-type headache specifically.
